Hugos Barbershop

How it all began
One time a couple of years ago I went to the barber to cut my hair. The barber didn't follow my requests, and I became so dissappointed with the result that I said to myself "How hard can it be? I'll do it myself next time!"

From that day I started to cut my own hair. It was scary in the beginning, but I always knew that if I screw it up totally, I could go for a buzz cut and try again next month. Fortunately that never happened.
My new hobby did not only save me money, I also gained control over my stubborn cowlick in the back of my head, that I now trim down whenever I need to.

After almost 2 years of self cutting some of my friends were brave enough to sit down in the chair. They got a new haircut, and I got a pizza and some valuable practice.
It's now been 4,5 years, I have invested in som quality clippers and opened an inofficial side business where I cut the hair of my friends and collegues. Many of my clients have told me that no other barber or hairdresser have managed their hair the way I do. I think the key to this is my will to always become better and always leave with a work I can be proud of.
How did I learn?
In the beginning there were a lot of trial and error. But the fantastic Internet provided me with all the knowledge I needed to try out myself. I have watched countless of Youtube clips of barbering guys using different techniques.
Will I ever become a full time barber?
My barbershop is mainly done for the joy of it. I get to be creative, social and make people happy. Many people have asked me if I want to be a full time barber, and I also got a job offer from a barbershop in Linköping when I showed my work for the staff. Right now I feel like I want to keep it on the hobby level, but if the crisis hits hard I always have a plan B!

MY WORK

Below are the finished results from some of my clients. To determine the type of haircut I'm gonna go for I always ask them how short they want it as the shortest on the sides, if they want a parting or not, and how long on the top. I am also looking at my clients haircolor, density, curliness and thickness of the hair to determine how to achieve the best haircut possible.
